on fire & a cow

Yesterday on a drive to see a friend who moved several hours away,

I was feeling adventurous,

wanting to try a new way.

My sassy smartphone is use to me changing routes,

in route…

I wasn’t too concerned, and I was still staying ‘inside’ civilization…

it’s only near where I live that the gadget goes off-line.

Then about 10 miles from my 1st turn,

I had an urge to use a different highway…

wondering if it would get me in the right direction…

I knew it headed west,

I needed to go north,

it leaned to the south…

the urge didn’t go away…

I figured, I’d give it a try – REGARDLESS, my desire for adventure would be satisfied,

I’d be experiencing some country roads with wildflowers and vast yards and fields.

As soon as I turned,

my mapping program seemed happy… like I was going the way it had suggested… um, no I wasn’t – I have looked at the various routes SEVERAL times

this has never been one of the highways it suggested…

I should have known then that the ‘urge’ was a God-thing, and not me.

Livin’ & learnin.’

I didn’t even make it to the next exit before it was OBVIOUS

why God

had me go this way

that I NEVER go = fire.

LARGE flames were burning bright and tall in the dry grass along the highway in the median…

spreadin’ in the summer heat.

Smoke taller than a semi-truck.

Fire can be evil, destroying everything in it’s path.

God is kind…

He sent me this way…

knowing I’d get it reported to the peeps that could actually do something about it.

God is so smart.

In case, I wasn’t alert…

as in already pre-occupied…

for me, that can mean:

-being lost in a good song

-completely lost in my own mind, pondering the things of life…

there was a old, rough-lookin’ car sitting in the median a few hundred feet before the fire…

God sometimes has to get your attention.

there was a cop and a HUGE moving truck off on the slow-side in the shoulder…

God KNEW I wouldn’t miss all #3 things together in one view.

God is smart.

Do I pull over and tell the cop about the fire?

I slowed down,

but well,

it just didn’t seem right…

and HELLO,

the sassy smart phone is voice-activated:

“Hey Siri,

call 911…

Police re-directed me to the fire (which reminded me of the night I called about the cow),

well… they knew right where I was on the highway…

aaah technology. It is good, most of the time.

The other time God sent me a different way,

than the way I had planned (or usually go… habit)

was the night of the cow.

I NEVER go this way home… it’s further, and less fun… no curves to the road either.

the urge just wouldn’t go away. JUST LIKE YESTERDAY.

Maybe I should have called this blog: on urges…

God was in the urge, both times.

God is so cool.

I pulled off the highway onto a country-road that night to find a HUGE cow, grazing happily in the ditch…

she could get hit… or wander away…

I used the before mentioned smart phone, but wasn’t as successful that night. I ended up having to call information as I was directed to the wrong county for the call. Lots of transfers later, the right people were on their way to help notify the cow’s owners. I’d like to say I know my neighbors, but these, I don’t… and one doesn’t stop late at night and knock on the door of anyone who lives in the country…

I leave that to the awesome people who serve all of us, the police. God bless ’em.

I just need to let God help me with my anger… I noticed it keeps popping up it’s ugly-head.

I don’t want to lose out on the goodness of God, like Moses because of my anger. I can be humble… I can submit… I KNOW my fight is NEVER with people…

help me Jesus!

God will.

I will focus on what is lovely, true and right (Philippines 4:8)

NOT let myself ponder anything else. Period (taking EVERY thought captive to the obedience of Christ = 2 Corinthians 10:5).

God is so smart…

if I hadn’t shared this,

I would not have gotten my scriptures to help me with anger:

2 Corinthians 10:5 = “and we tear down every proud idea that raises itself against the knowledge of God.

We also capture every thought and make it give up and obey Christ.”

in the Easy-to-Read Version (ERV).

Philippines 4:8 = “continue to think about what is

good and worthy of praise.

Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. ”

on hugs

Hugs are free… So are smiles.

Hugs are therapeutic… So are smiles.

Step out and give someone a hug… be safe, and don’t be weird about it.

Ever have a ‘yucky’ day…?

Lately, I’ve been having one or two a week,

I know it’s related to change. I HATE change,

I KNOW, God is fine with change… look at the weather in Missouri.

Last week,

I needed a hug,

for some reason I asked someone I had met the week before for one…

I don’t think I’ve ever done this.

Then yesterday,

she needed a hug… and went after one… didn’t ask, just moved in.

Her life has a change in it…

change can be hard.

Last week, when I needed a hug… I was dealing with change.

Change is HARD.

Need I say more…?

Love – hate relationship.

I’m on my SECOND brand new iPhone6s PLUS…

2 and 1/2 weeks…

Why does it always seem like I’m the ONE to find glitches…?

Last week,

it stressed me out.

This week,

Lost data… whatever.

Just 2 and 1/2 years of my life… whatever.

Can’t take it with me.

To Heaven,

ya know.

Hormones, I think it all has to do with hormones… they make us so weird.

Last week I missed a meal dealing with drama on my new phone at the Store

even L-O-N-G-E-R on the phone with AppleCare (in the mall – which I cannot recommend)…

Having to call AppleCare

was equally unpleasant the week before

in the other mall

when I was at that Store for classes too…

had an issue… with my lovely new device.

Before the 17th

this month,

I LOVED all things Apple…

Love – hate.

I still think they make a superior device,

if this new one doesn’t start acting ‘properly.’ It’ll be going back to it’s maker too.

Back to hugs:

They are better than technology. So is paper. I’m touch. I don’t enjoy digital books

digital calendars.

I’m trying

I am.

So glad

I live in the country,

the big event of the day is time with the chickens.

Funny enough,

my Mom

was right there with me – through it all at the mall… as she’s a quicker technology adaptor than me,

she wants to do Twitter and Facebook. I’ve never experienced the former,

I will learn.

too much coffee = trains of thought.

I’m in my 40s now…

I’ve lived apart from my Mom for MANY a year.

I don’t turn to her first

to fill my “Love-Tank” (read the book: “5 Love Languages”).

I’m touch.

it’s one of my NEEDs.

I also like kind words… that’s another Love-language.

Everyone has a different dialect…

when my new friend hugged me, it was OBVIOUS that touch is HIGHER in her Love-Language scale than mine.

It was l-o-n-g

it was tight. That’s clearly her dialect… or the depth of her need.

I’m glad God made me comfy with touch – her hug was NOT awkward…

if it did make the young man in the store who was helping me

before the end of our visit… I personally think he wanted a hug too,

he settled for a handshake.

To each their own.

My husband would not have been jealous either way,

he was a ‘puppy.’

A tall ‘puppy,’

still a ‘puppy’ (A VERY y-o-u-n-g man.).

Funny enough,

I’ve written about hugs before… for a very cool verse,

a much shorter blog from 2008:

Step out – LOVE on people… they need u as much as u need them.

on iPhone6s+

That’s how I spelled it…

will spell it.

I’ve even been reading reviews of the new iPhone

as I’ll finally be taking the plunge.

Another ‘gift’ of marriage.

Eight years ago (!) I touched my first iPhone only to be disappointed that it could not ‘sense’ my callused fingers.

Technology has come a long way since then.

The article I read last night explained and showed all sorts of goodies, including 3-D Touch.
Raised on Star Trek, Star Wars and all things Sci-Fi
well as the supernatural while at church,
I perhaps have a higher expectation than most.

I ‘said’ EIGHT years ago, “When a phone has a camera, my calendar and everything else I need on it, then I’ll get one.”

As at that time

peeps were still using their palm-pilots,

carrying pagers,

cell phones

still paying for a home phone too.
What will our children think?!?

And we think the 80’s were bad.
I myself at the time had a pager for work
my personal cell…
then two cell phones,

ALL I wanted in a laptop was a machine that I could draw and write on … at the time there was only one.

in recent years

a SMART phone was added to my array.

I had one given to me,

due to an unwanted feature that even Apple could not turn off,
it never became my ONE and ONLY device.

ONE thing to carry.

ONE thing to charge.

I look forward to

changing my fashion

to carry the MONSTER

I was going to get a Mini,
why not get it all.

I wonder how often I’ll touch laptops after this…

on becoming more techy

Help others

help yourself.

While helping someone else, I LEARNED all sorts of new things here on WordPress as well as other techy-stuff. Doing all sorts of things I’ve never done before.

God KNOWS it’s easier for me to do for others

for me to do for myself.

on choosing fire over internet.

So my Mom got the internet recently at her house.

This is the first time in over a decade we’ve had it at home.

Mom still doesn’t know how to use her technology…

teaching can be exhausting.

Yet even when it’s just me,

and time online,

I find myself wanting to sit in front of the fireplace

enjoy face-to-face conversation

over spending time on the machine or online.

Thank God!

Update:  Find myself this summer having to “fast” from the internet… it makes me tired too.  Live and learn.

on the Kingdom of God

I think about the Kingdom a lot… I want to know more about it… then I came across this gem of info on one of my friend and mentor’s blogs:

“Acts 2:45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.

The new converts to Christ on the Day of Pentecost recognized that they had received the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 13:45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

Nothing is more valuable than God’s Kingdom.”

I don’t get to go to friends blogs as often as I would like, but everytime I do, I read something wonderful! Thank you fellow-bloggers!
