my initials spell PEG.
My parents were clearly thinking.
Peggy = Greek for pearl.
Elizabeth = Hebrew for promise.
Gates = wish I was related to Bill.
Watson = My hubby was worth the wait. Neither of us have been married before, no kids, no debt… feelin’ blessed!
Mom’s cool sweater from the late ’60s!
Coleman’s wedding photographer, Mark Allen liked my feet!
Wouldn’t it be cool to make money being a model…
aaah more money for mission trips!
For my 33rd birthday a friend in Chicago sent me a card with this scripture: Job 8:21 NIV
fill your mouth with LAUGHTER
your lips with shouts of JOY.”
This year, I am standing on Romans 8:25-28ish in the Message…
sorry my Bible is one of the older translations without the numbers.
“We are enlarged in the waiting,
and the more joyful our expectancy.
The moment we get tired in the waiting,
God’s Spirit is right along side helping us along.
If we don’t know how or what to pray,
it doesn’t matter.
He does our praying in and for us,
making prayer out of our wordless sighs,
our aching groans.
He knows us far better than we know ourselves,
and keeps us present before God.
We can be so sure
that every detail in our lives of love for God
is worked into something good.
After He called me by name,
He set me on a solid basis with Himself
and then after He got me established,
He stayed with me to the end,
gloriously completing what He had begun.”
In the 34th year of my life, I memorized Psalm 23 in the NCV:
“The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in green pastures.
He leads me to calm water.
He gives me new strength.
He leads me on paths that are right
for the good of His name.
Even if I walk through a very dark valley,
I will not be afraid,
because You are with me.
Your rod and Your walking stick
(The stick a shepherd uses to guide and protect his sheep.)
You prepare a meal for me
in front of my enemies.
You pour oil on my head,
You fill my cup to overflowing.
Surely Your goodness and love will be with me
all my life,
and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.”
Did you notice…it’s God who DOES…
this Psalm is sooooo very comforting and has helped me thru many a hard day … and night.
For my 35th year:
Ephesians 6:10-18 NCV… no… I have not memorized this one… yet,
but perhaps I should… I tend to find people irritating … well, not all people…
be strong in the Lord and in His great power.
Put on the full armor of God
so that you can fight against the devil’s evil tricks.
Our fight is not against people on earth
but against the rulers and authorities and
the powers of this world’s darkness,
against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world.
That is why you need to put on God’s full armor.
Then on the day of evil you will be able to stand strong.
And when you have finished the whole fight,
you will still be standing.
So stand strong,
with the belt of truth tied around your waist
the protection of right living on your chest.
On your feet wear the Good News of peace to help you stand strong.
And also use the shield of faith
with which you can stop all the burning arrows of the Evil One.
Accept God’s salvation as your helmet,
and take the sword of the Spirit,
which is the Word of God.
Pray in the Spirit at all times
with all kinds of prayers,
asking for everything you need.
To do this you must always be ready and never give up.
Always pray for all God’s people.”
New Century Version of the Bible…this translation is a word-by-word, but written at the level of a magazine or newspaper…it’s one of my favorites.
Funny, but I just looked at my photos from my cousin at the top of this page…
WHY did I get braces?
My teeth look straight!
O’well, I know it will be great once these things are out of my mouth!
For my 36 year… been studying Colossians 3:12-17… listening to it… reading it in other translations… thinking about what it says… trying to live it…
The character of the New Man… I AM a new creation in Christ:
“Put on tender mercies,
bearing with one another,
forgiving one another,
let peace of God rule in your hearts,
called to one body,
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Whatever you do in word or deed,
do ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
- NKJV Lucado’s Inspirational study Bible
For my 37 year:
Micah 6:8 NIV
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
For my 38th year:
– scripture from my cousin:
2 Corinthians 9:12
“My grace is sufficient.”
Romans 8:28 = I KNOW that ALL things work together for GOOD… cuz I LOVE God and I want what He wants!
So I’m not 39 yet… but I think I just found THE scripture for life:
“So let us never stop offering to God our praise through Jesus. Let us offer it as the fruit of lips that say they believe in him.”
Hebrews 13:15 NIRV
in the amplified version:
“let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name”
When I was 40 I got married,
when I was 41 I was still recovering from miscarriage,
thru it all I continually find that God is working all things in my life out for good = Romans 8:28. I trust His plan for my life = Jer. 29:11. I trust Him, always, now and forever. He is love. He loves me. I John 4.
Now to read Col., 1 Thess and 1 John again… after I finish John… God is good – all the time!
2016 verse of the year… I’m not yet quite 42:
Romans 15:13 –
I like it in the J.B. Phillips New Testament (PHILLIPS) translation:
” May the God of hope fill you with joy and peace in your faith, that by the power of the Holy Spirit, your whole life and outlook may be radiant with hope.”
Now to find the translation to memorize it in! Thank you Biblegateway.com for making that easy!
I’m 43 going in 44 this month & the scripture that has helped since the latest miscarriage that just happened to be a tubal pregnancy (going to the doc regularly can be good for ya) is
The devil comes to steal, kill & destroy
we could have abundant life.
Today, 10 days before my 44th birthday:
“… YET I will praise Him …”
of another hen.
Lost #11 hens
