on isolation

Wanted to get alone…

Wanted a lot of alone time.

I had let myself get overly tired and run-down = not good.

Depression starts to set in when I let myself get wiped out… physically and emotionally.

Thankfully in a book study at SLFC,

and

the author reminded me that God created us for relationships… for love.

Thank You Jesus.

Thank You Dr. Gary Smalley, “Change Your Heart, Change Your Life”

on giant lily pad

So if you’ve ever been in the History Museum, there’s a photo of a lady playing a violin on a lily pad at Shaw’s Garden (now called, Missouri Botanical Garden, 150 years later)…

I always assumed she was a tiny lady,

then

reading National Geographic today:  “the plant is strongest at it’s center and can hold up to a 100 pounds”

Wow!

More interesting facts:  “Called the, ‘Queen Victoria’ (Victoria regia) water lily – can reach up to 8 feet across and stays afloat by trapping air in the spaces between it’s ribs”

:)

Our world is so cool!  God sure does create wonders!

on similarities… above and below.

It’s cool when you learned science has proven something you have been pondering:

While driving this year, I noticed:

birds sort of move in similar patterns as fish… ever notice?

Then while reading today:

fish and buffalo do too = National Geographic magazine January 2013:

“Atlantic Ocean – Swelling to more than 30 feet across, a school of blue jack mackerel achieves a harmony that belies its purpose:  safety from predators.  The fish broke apart and re-formed off the Azores as dolphins, birds and sharks pecked away at the pack.” … ever see that video of buffalo in Africa fighting lions and alligators… safety does come in numbers (church too), but sometimes being courageous will help one of the ‘flock’…

on choosing fire over internet.

So my Mom got the internet recently at her house.

This is the first time in over a decade we’ve had it at home.

Mom still doesn’t know how to use her technology…

teaching can be exhausting.

Yet even when it’s just me,

and time online,

I find myself wanting to sit in front of the fireplace

or

enjoy face-to-face conversation

over spending time on the machine or online.

Thank God!

:)

Update:  Find myself this summer having to “fast” from the internet… it makes me tired too.  Live and learn.

on “put it on”

“Put on Love.” = I Corinthians 13:4-8

“Put on the armor of God.” = The end of Ephesians 6.

Like your clothes, they aren’t going to jump on you if you walk in your closet.” – Joyce Meyer = always practical!

:)

Thank You Lord for Joyce Meyer,

saying things in a way that I can hear them.

:)

Learned though this week,

that she’s so ‘fierce’

that I have to consume her messages surrounded by the Word…

otherwise they are too much for me.

:)

It’s good to live and learn!

on grief = beautiful from Ireland

Anything that helps me to cry… to deal with death, is a blessing from above:

Death is nothing at all –

I have only slipped away into the next room.

Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.

Call me by my old familiar name;

speak to me in th easy way which you always used.

Laugh as we always laughed together.

Play,

smile,

think of me,

pray for me.

Let my name by the household word that it always was.

Let it be spoken without effort.

Life means all that it ever meant.

It is the same as it ever was;

there is absolutely unbroken continuity.

Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight?

I am but waiting for you,

for an interval,

somewhat very near just around the corner.

All is well.

Nothing is past;

nothing is lost.

One brief moment and all will be as it was before –

only better,

infinitely happier and forever –

we will all be one together with Christ.”

on frolicking

yes,

deer do frolic … especially young ones when there’s LOTS of snow!

:)

I enjoyed watching them this morning.

Criss-crossing the creek too!
