on ipod goodness…

She looks so cool with earbuds!

Mom and I at Shaw’s enjoying a brisk fall spin around the gardens.  She won an ipod shuffle at her church’s fall festival, and I finally got the New Testament downloaded on it with MEGA-help from my cousin Sonia.  She liked it so much, so listened to it all day… literally.  It was so cool!!!

Her Jeep even has a audio-plug, so we were able to connect the ipod directly to her stereo.

God loves us so much!

On reminder… of God’s goodness:

“God’s ways are good and bring you joy…

His ways are right and bring you wisdom…

His ways are true and bring you freedom…

His ways are pure and bring you refreshment…

His ways are sure and bring you strength…

His ways are best and bring you love…

May God bless you this Christmas –

in every way,

in every moment,

in everything you do.”

‘From the fullness of His grace we have all received one blessing after another.’ – John 1:16 NIV

on a traditional gaelic blessing:

“May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields,

and until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.”

May the new year be amazing for you and your’s!

on candy canes

Got this from teacher friend a few years back:

The Story of the Candy Cane

A candy maker in Indiana wanted to make a candy that would be a witness,

so he made the Christmas Candy Cane.

He incorporated several symbols for the birth, the ministry, and the death of Jesus Christ.

He began with a stick of pure white, hard candy.

White to symbolize the Virgin birth and the sinless nature of Jesus,

and hard to symbolize the Solid Rock, the foundation of the church,

and firmness of the promises of God.

The candymaker made the candy in the form of a “J” to represent the precisous name of Jesus, who came to earth as our savior.

It also represents the staff of the “Good Shepherd” with which He reaches down into the ditches of the world to lift out the fallen lambs who, like all sheep, have gone astray.

Thinking that the candy was somewhat plain, the candymaker stained it with red stripes. He used the small stripes to show the stripes of scourging Jesus received by which we are healed. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Jesus on the cross so that we could have the promise of eternal life, if only we put our faith and trust in Him.

Unfortunately, the candy became known as a Candy Cane, a meaningless decoration seen at Christmas time. But the meaning is still there for those who have “eyes to see and ears to hear.”

Merry Christmas!

on a new version of the Bible !!!

If ya know me, then ya know I like different versions of the Bible… reading different ones increases my understanding…

Philippians 4:8 (Common English Bible)

8 From now on, brothers and sisters, if anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise.

I wonder if this is a word-by-word translation or a thought-by-thought…ummmm… I think I want it!  Holding a Bible in your hands is so much more awesome than reading it online.

on the rooroo, Lars… gone.

Came home to a message from Mom today that he had died. Rough night. Cried myself to bed, but then couldn’t sleep.

I’m glad I had a day off work the day before… got snowed in last weekend … he kept me company while I shoveled the driveway.

Thankfully my brother spent that last evening loving on him.

He was old… more white hair all the time… couldn’t see… couldn’t hear… was confused those last days… looking for Mom or Lance in the yard, wanding all over the place … his tracks in the snow will make me sad until it melts.

My brother shared that he was like a small dog trapped in a big dog’s body… yep… that makes sense, but he never did like my brother picking him up.

He was a follower… followed each of us wherever we went… once I tried to bike with him… nope that didn’t work, he had to be touching me… imagine when I tried rollerblading with him.

Agh…that sweet, tender look he got in his eye… he loved us and we loved him, and I cry everytime I think about it.

For years, I have known that I would not get another pet for awhile after he was gone. He was suppose to be my Mom’s dog, but ended up living with my brother and I all these years.

My sweet rooroo, Lars:

Summer 2010, look at those white eyebrows!

I'll miss his sweetness. What a GREAT dog!
