on being grateful

While reading Bayless Conley’s,

“Answers for Each Day… to strengthen your walk with Christ”

I decided to start up a Grateful Journal again.

Several years ago my boss suggested it,

it did help.

Focus on the positive…

From Deut. 28: 47, Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness of (mind and) heart (in gratitude) for the abundance of all (with which He has blessed you).

I really have abundance in my life… I need to be more grateful for all that He has given me!!!

From William Shakespeare, ” How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is to have a thankless child. ”

and from James 1: 17 amp version:

17Every good gift and every perfect (free, large, full) gift

is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light,

in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting]

or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse].

on the next step…

We only know the next step…

generally that’s all we have the energy for anyway.

Like my new gardens:

I got approval from the owner to put in two new gardens.

I even had several people give me plants and seeds!!

   Then I felt overwhelmed…

the dirt is well, clay… takes hours to dig anything.

PLUS the owner wanted the grass dug up for her to put elsewhere on the property… I don’t like waste, so I was allll for this! Yet it’s still one more step.  While looking at it one day from the swing, I realized I only had the energy to dig up grass, and not even the entire garden.  Since then I’ve dug up three wagon loads on three different days.  I’m still not done with the grass.   Yet the plants I received are doing well… and the seeds won’t do anything until they have dirt and water, so all’s well there too!

God is sooo smart.  Step  by step.  That’s all I need.  That’s all I can handle.

From Bayless Conley’s,

“Answers for Each Day… to strengthen your walk with Christ”

“I dropped him a rope and pulled him up to where I was. He needed to believe that I would not let go. Because he did, and put actions with his belief, my strength was made available to him and he reached a place he could not have gotten to on his own.

God’s strenth is made available to the believing heart, and as we believe He brings us to places we could never reach on our own.

A believing heart. Proverbs 3:5 says, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

Aahhh trust IS believing!!!

on favorite songs…

What if the Word is to God like our favorite songs are to us…

when we hear them, we listen.

Methinks I will pray the Word more often than not. I want to be heard!

I John 5:14-15 – Now this is the confidence that we have in Him,

that if we ask anything according to His will,

He hears us.

And if we know that He hears us,

whatever we ask,

we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

Psalm 86:6-7 – Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer,

and attend to the voice of my supplications.

In the day of my trouble I will call upon You,

for You will answer me.

Psalm 6:8-9 – The LORD has heard the voice of my weeping,

the LORD has heard my supplication;

the LORD will receive my prayer.

Poem on grief…

A few weeks ago

I was flipping through my baby photo album …

and came across an email I sent to my Dad’s friends in the Navy after he died…the email was dated:  May 1997… Mom sure does keep stuff!

In the email was a poem… it made me cry… a lot… when I read it.

I wanted to share it with my cousins who recently lost their Mama to brain cancer… yet I knew I couldn’t read it over the phone.

Grief is hard…heavy… but necessary.

It’s important to let the tears come…

pressure builds inside, even when you don’t know it.

Eventually tears come less often, but the intensity for me has remained the same… aaah feelings… so amazing, yet so overwhelming at times.

The poem:

“When I come to the end of the road

and the sun has set for me

I want no nights in a gloom-filled room,

why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little

   but not too long,

and not with your head bowed low,

Remember the love that we once shared.

Miss me… but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take,

   and each must go alone.

It’s all a part of the master’s plan

a step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart,

Go to the friends we know

and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds,

Miss me… but let me go.”

Anchors on Saturday, April 25, 2009

It was a great day!

My cousin and I spent some time at a woman’s event

about genes and jeans at St. Luke’s Hospital,

then we enjoyed some FREE tickets

to the Ming Dynasty exhibit at the art museum!!!

Before eating dinner at Anchors,

afew of us stopped at the new Culver’s in the Valley for ice-cream..YUMMY!

One of the volunteers offered to blenderize my food for me again…

when he found out I had braces…

I’m not willing to eat food that way… yet…

After Anchors a few of us met up with an old friend

I have not seen since a bonfire in the fall!!!

Pastor Jeff spoke:

Isaiah 55:6-11

Ephesians 3:20

Learn to think God’s thoughts,

then you will do God’s actions.

Bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

Forsake our thoughts

take on God’s ways

be renewed!
Warning:  Don’t give yourself over to what doesn’t satisfy.

God’s thoughts are laid out in the Word.

God loves you.

He sent His son to die for you.

Romans 12

Be renewed in your mind.

vs. 2 = Change the way you think

Familiarize yourself with who God is…

your rights as Christians – who you are in Christ.

You are FREE from lack.

God meets all your needs.

Psalm 8: 3-7

Spend time staring at the stars in the sky above like David,

see alllllll that God has made!

John 10: 3

Matthew 30…God know how many hairs you have on your head

Job 14: 16 = God counts your steps

Mal 3: 16 = writes our thoughts

Psalm 56: 8 = our tears

Is 41: 10

Phil 4: 19

God has His thoughts towards us.

God’s Kingdom has NEVER been shaken.

Get ahold of God’s thoughts.

He knows the steps we are to take.

God is looking for those He can strongly support.

We are destined for VICTORY.

Get ahold of the good report!

God has established strength.

Get ahold of the Word.

His thoughts are toward you.

God will speak essentials into your spirit.

I Tim 2: 1 = pray for those in authority.

God will have His way!

The best info we can get are God’s thoughts.

Get your melon straightened out by getting into God’s Word.

(This worked for me just this morning!

I woke up early… even exercised!

But I didn’t have peace…

lots of thoughts racing through my head…

acne break-out…

so, I listened to the Word on my ipod while I ironed some clothes for work:

Deut. 28

and before I knew it = PEACE!)

Isaiah 56: 13 = care for us as a mother who comforts a child.

Ezek. 34: 12

the Shepherd watches for stray sheep…

P. Jeff compared it to a bus driver watching, driving, see people getting on and off the bus…keep going…

Deut. 32: 11

P. Jeff share about a part of the movie from “Lord of the Rings” when the big, beautiful eagles come and pick up the hobbits near the end of the movie.

Psalm 103: 13 = a father has compassion on his children

The Word got David through the purposes of his life.

God is present.

God brings comfort.

Psalm 23

Eventually the Word will win over the wrinkles of our mind.

All called to be salt of the earth

light of the world.

I Pet. 5: 7

Get ready.

Get ready for increase in your life.

Get ready.

Get marriable if you want to get married.

P. Jeff share that 4500 kids came to the Easter egg hunt!
They prepared 25,000 plastic Easter eggs… gave away ipods…

P. Jeff also share that he only new his biological father for 5 days before he died of cancer.

P. Jeff shared his vision of a billion souls… saved = 1:7 of everyone…

Where there is vision,

there is provision.

Psalm 34

God’s building your self confidence,

watch what you listen to… mediate on the Word.

on introvert vs. extrovert

Recently I attended a conference

learned more on this subject.

The big thing:

How do you recharge when your batteries are low…

a true introvert will need to be alone…

even from family,

an extrovert NEEDS people.

They are energized by people.

Often I have people calling me a “social butterfly”

yet I’ve never felt that way…truly.

I know I can talk to almost anyone,

given the opportunity…

I would rather spend most of my time alone…

even at work…

for several years I had an office to myself.

For the last 6 years, I’ve had to learn to SHARE my space again…

I figured it was prep for the future…

marriage, kids and all that.

I also wrote about this topic on Jan. 10, 2009:

“on introspection”

I’ve learned to do something creative almost daily…

it truly does help!

From painting…

to picking out outfits for work…

aaahhh, truly a brain-break

on doing…

John 14:10c – NCV

… the Father lives in me

does His own work.

Nice huh.

God is at work IN me.

I don’t have to be an overachiever.
